LiveCast Selected Winner of Wireless Innovation Contest at CTIA Wireless 2007
LiveCast takes top honors in the "Taking Care of Community" category for its mobile phone video streaming solution used by broadcasters and citizen reporters.
Orlando, FL - March 27, 2007 -- LiveCast Media, Inc., a pioneer in mobile livecasting software and automated video streaming delivery, today announced it was chosen the winner of the "Taking Care of Community" category in the Wireless Innovation Contest 2006 (WIC'07). LiveCast's LiveCast was selected from entries from across the United States and Canada, as it demonstrates a "real world" wireless innovation that will impact our lives - broadcasting live video from a mobile phone. Newscasters in the field, citizen journalists and student reporters, are just a few of the community-related groups showcased by LiveCast who are using the application today.
When breaking news happens, every second counts. With LiveCast reporters can stream video from their mobile phones directly to a server where it can be shared live or on-demand, and automatically publish it to a website, blog or to a broadcaster. Additionally, GPS coordinates can be embedded within each frame of video, providing accurate dynamic mapping of transmission points during a broadcast. LiveCast eliminates the costs and time delays of uploading media through a PC or Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), uniquely addressing the need for immediacy, flexibility and affordability in mobile news gathering.
"LiveCast has always been on the cutting-edge of mobile livecasting technology", says William Mutual, CEO of LiveCast. "And it's rewarding to be recognized for LiveCast's contributions to real-world applications and its impact to the bottom-line of the wireless industry."
"WIC'07 focuses on accelerating wireless adoption and new economic opportunities," says Shana Korotash, Executive Director of WINBC. "The winning companies like LiveCast showcase how leading-edge wireless solutions are, and will be, helping to improve efficiencies, enhance processes and connect people."
LiveCast will be demonstrating its LiveCast solution at the Nokia Booth (#2537) at CTIA. Presentations will include its new pro audio feature that integrates a quality audio feed from the sound board of a speaker system into a LiveCast video stream. This enhanced LiveCast feature is ideal for livecasting events, such as: press conferences, awards ceremonies, town hall meetings, music concerts, and training seminars.
