MYSPACE TO HOST LIVE STREAMING PROJEKT REVOLUTION CONCERT TOUR STOP
Record Breaking Six Hour Live Streamed Concert to Feature Main Stage Acts Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, HIM, Placebo and Julien-K
Los Angeles - August 20, 2007 -- MySpace, America's most trafficked Web site, today announced that the Projekt Revolution concert tour stop at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan will be streamed as a MySpace LIVE! event on August 22, 2007 starting at 1:30PM PST. As one of the official sponsors of the Projekt Revolution concert series, taking place this summer across the country, NowWhat, State Farm's slick marketing campaign geared towards first time car insurance buyers, will host the stream of the concert on its MySpace profile (http://myspace.com/nowwhat). The concert will feature artists including Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday and others. Matt Pinfiled, an MTV and music industry veteran, is slated to host the six-hour concert stream - the longest live stream in MySpace history.
"MySpace's perspective on music and support of up-and-coming artists is very much in line with Linkin Park's vision for the Projekt Revolution tour," said Josh Brooks, vice president of marketing and content at MySpace. "It is in fitting with this vision that MySpace LIVE! is proud to host the groundbreaking stream of the concert and share over six full hours of music with millions of MySpace members who may not have otherwise been exposed to the artists featured throughout the show."
MySpace LIVE!, a MySpace offering which brings select live events to the MySpace community via streaming online video, will give MySpace users watching at home the opportunity to submit real-time messages through an on-site message ticker. The streaming of this concert is the third in a series of MySpace LIVE! events, with previous online streamed concerts having featured DJ Paul Oakenfold and Grammy award winning rapper T.I.
"We are very excited about this opportunity to put our NowWhat.com campaign in front of the millions of MySpace users in such an engaging way," said Ed Gold, advertising director for State Farm. "By tying in with Projekt Revolution, sponsoring this record breaking streaming concert on MySpace LIVE!, and thru our NowWhat.com site, our goal is to enhance and/or change the perception of our brand to the MySpace audience."
In a MySpace LIVE! first, five fans at the Projekt Revolution concert, armed with LiveCast Nokia N95 compatible cell phones, will take video footage of the concert which will be incorporated into the live stream on MySpace. LiveCast lets anyone with a compatible cell phone stream live video from their phone to the internet with a press of a button. Simplynew Studios will provide onsite production for the live stream and integrate the cell phone-captured video footage in real-time. Simplynew Studios is a pioneer in live streaming production and broadcasting and have been the production team behind every MySpace LIVE! event to date.
To ensure the highest quality audio is captured for MySpace members watching from home, digital audio workstations using AMD's Opteron processor technology will be deployed throughout the venue. NowWhat.com will be on-site with an interactive booth where concert goers can get a free online photo, win great prizes, and pick up a net decoder card to enter in daily and grand prize sweepstakes held online. Concert goers can log on to NowWhat.com after the show to watch exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the tour.
Now in its fourth year, Project Revolution is an annual concert tour headlined and created by two-time Grammy winning band Linkin Park. Each year Linkin Park hand picks up-and-coming and established artists on the cutting-edge of hip-hop and rock to perform on the tour. Projekt Revolution alumni include Korn, Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Xzibit, Mudvayne, Adema, Blindside and DJ Z-Trip. This year Project Revolution has partnered with Music For Relief to donate $1 from each ticket sold to American Forests' Global ReLeaf program to plant trees and help reduce global temperatures.
To date MySpace has more than 7 million bands using the site. MySpace music has allowed bands to share music and videos, announce tour dates and communicate with fans and others in the MySpace community, seamlessly integrating the web into shared online and offline experiences. MySpace Music has been the launch pad for exclusive, high profile album releases such as Gnarls Barkley, Panic! At the Disco, Lily Allen, Fall Out Boy, Cute is What We Aim For, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Queens of the Stone Age, Audioslave and many more.
